AGM.

Redcar & Cleveland Twinning Association’s AGM will take place at the Redcar Community Heart, Ridley Street, Redcar TS10 1TD on Thursday 15th March 2018 at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.  Light refreshments will be available.

All members are invited to attend, along with anyone else interested to learn about the Twinning Association.  Please come along and find out about what we do, as we plan for our next visit to Troisdorf in Germany, close to Cologne & Bonn, at the end of October during the school half-term holiday.  New members are always welcome and there are also Committee vacancies for a new Chair and Vice-Chair this year to take the Association forward.Please join us to help maintain the strong links with our German friends that were established in 1990.

 Visit to Troisdorf .

We are planning the visit to Troisdorf from Sunday 28th October until Saturday 3rd November 2018, with overnight ferry crossings between Hull / Rotterdam and staying in Troisdorf with our hosts for four nights Monday to Friday.

The total cost for passengers sharing a cabin on the ferry both ways will be no more than £340 per person if we have at least 20 people travelling; for single cabins on the ferry both ways there will be an extra charge of £40 in total, bringing the full cost to no more than £380 per person.  If we get more than 20 confirmed passengers, the total cost per person will decrease accordingly (because the charge for the coach is fixed for the week, regardless of how many are travelling).  We will let you know by the end of June how many passengers there are booked for the visit and therefore how much the final payment (due by the end of August) will be.

In addition there will be a cost in Euros for our German hosts when they have put together our programme for the visit (this was 30 Euros in 2016).

Meanwhile we require a deposit of £100 per person asap and by no later than 31st March to secure your place. Please complete and return the attached booking-form to our Secretary Emma.

Please note that as deposits are required to secure and fund the coach hire they are therefore non-refundable and you should ensure that you are covered by your own travel insurance arrangements for this trip, in accordance with the attached proforma.

Finally, we do have a discretionary hardship fund available for members who would otherwise find it difficult to pay the full cost of this visit.  This is available for up to 50% of the total cost for anyone who is on a low income, unemployed or in full-time education.  Please contact either the Chairman or the Secretary for an application form – each application will be treated in confidence on its own merit.

 

The form below, to be filled in by all travelling to Germany, confirms that the EH1C card and passport will be carried, and that full and proper travel insurance will be in place. Redcar & Cleveland Twinning Association accepts no responsibility for members undertaking the trip to Troisdorf, who do so at their own risk.

There are very good reasons why proper documentation is insisted upon. Anyone arriving at a port and found not to have a current passport unfortunately would not be able to travel further, and this could not be allowed to jeopardise the trip for other travellers. Similarly, the EH1C card is essential to pay for some costs of any doctor or hospital visit in Germany and your travel insurance would cover the rest (as well as giving you protection for other situations within the terms of your insurance).

 

Please check the expiry date of your EHIC card and passport.
